solar powered air conditioning

Chromasun's enhanced  for hot and dry climates

The rise in temperature has a direct impact on our electricity bills…..both soar faster and make us break out in cold sweat. The culprit is power guzzling air-conditioner. But here is a green way to beat the heat and the escalating bills! A multifunction solar system Chromasun from Australia is the latest entry into solar powered air conditioning. It contains photovoltaic and solar thermal technology that harvest light and heat from the sun. The makers say that this device can has 75 per cent efficient in converting electric power into solar thermal system. It contains mirrors, receivers and a concentrator and silicon solar cells. This system generates electricity from the cells and the waste heat is used to increase the temperature of water or oil in a sealed tube to 220 degrees celsius.
The heat is then used to warm a solution containing a refrigerant which then boils away. When the solution and refrigerant are recombined, the temperature is much lower and can then be utilized to cool a room. And that, is how this system works.
As is obvious, the Chromasun system seems to be a very wise alternative especially in hot and dry climates. Maybe it should come to the Middle East and then our bills will reduce for both water and electricity.
